Volunteer Appreciation

Current and Former Volunteers Honored

Sinclair Health Clinic hosted its first Terry Awards ceremony to pay tribute to the clinic’s co-founder and long-time medical director, Dr. Terry Sinclair. The event was held February 22, 2024 at First Presbyterian Church, which was the site of the first medical clinic. Volunteer doctors and nurses treated 14 patients on the clinic’s first night of operation on October 23, 1986.

Terry Sinclair’s widow, Diane Sinclair, presented the inaugural Legacy Award, to Janet Hughes. She was one of the nurses on duty on opening night and volunteered for many more years to help patients.

The Terry Award for Volunteer of the Year was given to Bill Jackson, who is a nurse practitioner. Jackson currently volunteers two days a week, providing direct care to patients. That award “honors a volunteer who is currently demonstrating exceptional dedication and whom the board feels embodies Terry’s spirit of volunteer service.”

Valley Health was honored as Sinclair Health Clinic’s 2024 Outstanding Community Partner in recognition of its longstanding support of the nonprofit clinic’s mission.

Recognition awards were presented to several outstanding volunteers, including Dr. Yekaterina Rabkin; Dr. Shyama Rosenfeld, who is the clinic’s volunteer medical director; pharmacy volunteers Debbie Lewis and Steve Zuckerman, who have offered more than 50 years of combined service; and community engagement volunteers Virginia McClure, Debra Gerace, Georgia Yeatras and Saul Barbosa.

Michael Needs Your Help

We have an urgent need to help one of Sinclair Health Clinic’s patients!
Michael has a prosthetic leg. The 60-year-old has been working to control his diabetes. There has been wear and tear on his prosthetic and after losing weight, it no longer fits properly. His leg is at risk of infection and possibly having to amputate it more if he doesn’t get it fixed.

The cost of a new socket is over $7,000. The prosthetic company is giving a generous discount - but like most of our patients, Michael doesn’t have health insurance or the $3,500 needed to get it replaced.

Can you help Michael? A donation toward his medical care will ensure he gets a new prosthetic and can continue making great progress to improve his health. You can specify your donation online or via check to help Michael.

The warmer temperatures mean spring is near. The increased demand for services and new patients seeking care continues into 2024.

To meet the increasing community need, we need your support now more than ever. Please consider making an ongoing monthly gift. A monthly donation of any amount can provide meaningful results to our patients.

How your gift makes a difference:

  • $10 per month ($120/year) covers prenatal vitamins for 2 expectant mothers.
  • $40 per month ($480/year) provides vaccinations for 100 patients.
  • $100 per month ($1,200/year) provides a month’s worth of essential medications for 5 people.
  • $250 per month ($3,000/year) covers the cost of well-women check-ups for 6 women.

Thanks to our leadership team, led by Dr. Mercedes Abbet, and the dedicated efforts of our staff, volunteers, and community partners, we achieved incredible outcomes in 2023:

2,625 unique patients served:

our explosive growth continues, doubling the 1,267 patients served in 2019.

providing vital medications to our patients and the public, often at no cost.

2,261 prenatal care visits:

supporting pregnant women with dignity and high-quality care.

1,017 new patients enrolled:

expanding our reach to meet the growing health needs of our region.

Thank you to everyone for your generous support to help make these health impacts possible. Behind every number is a person who is grateful for your gift!
